Arrive early.
Drink water.
Visit the washroom.
Breathe - regularly.
Hum before you go on to loosen your vocal chords.
Mentally prepare for the questions and theme.
Rehearse some phrases and anecdotes that you want to use.
Ask the host for the overall theme of the show - positive or negative.
Watch the host for clues on your use of time.
Ask the host if you can mention your website or phone number - then write it down for the host.
Mention the name of the host, program and station during your interview.
If you don't understand the question - say that. And ask the host to repeat.
If you get a question that you need to think about - talk while you are thinking. It's okay to pause but don't leave dead air.
Before you go on the air, be clear on the message that you want to get across. Then be sure to include that message in your answers.
